Hurricane Milton increaes to a Cat 5 as landfall approaches

West Florida is bracing for impact in light of Hurricane Milton, with Governor Ron Desantis calling for evacuations, and ordering The Florida National Guard, The Florida State Guard, and FDOT, to escalate the large-scale debris removal from the tragic Hurricane Helene that struck just one week ago. As of 1:30 p.m. EST, Hurricane Milton has been increased to a CAT 5 level hurricane; the highest intensity level of a hurricane. With winds expected to hit over 150 mph in some places near Tampa, Desantis continues to encourage Floridians to evacuate as soon as possible. Landfall is expected to be around 7-8 a.m. Wednesday morning, with the eye of the storm barreling towards Tampa and Bradenton, Florida. With over 15 feet of storm surge expected, Hurricane Milton is shaping up to be one of the worst hurricanes in recent history.
